QA LEVEL 3 AWARD IN FIRST AID AT WORK (RQF)

This qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: 

• The Resuscitation Council (UK) 

• A distinguished panel of experts in emergency medical care 

This QA qualification is: 

• For people who deal with first aid at work, enabling them to be workplace first aiders under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 

• Based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard for delivery of First Aid at Work (FAW) courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 

This qualification should enable Learners to attain the knowledge and practical competencies to deal with various first-aid situations. 

Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergencies and understand the first aider's role. 

The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by preparing them to deal with a range of first aid situations and take on the role of first aider in the workplace. 

Structure 

This qualification contains two mandatory units with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 22 hours. This will consist of 18 hours of guided learning and 4 hours of Preparation learning, e.g., pre-course reading, research, mentored practice/work experience, and workplace induction.

QA LEVEL 3 AWARD IN PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID (RQF)

This qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: 

• Resuscitation Council (UK) 

• Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 

• A distinguished panel of experts in emergency medical care 

This QA qualification is for people who work with or look after children. It enables them to have skills and knowledge of how to deal with paediatric first-aid situations that can arise when caring for children. 

This qualification outlines a range of practical skills for providing first aid to infants and children. Learners will practise assessing and managing an incident and demonstrate how to treat various severe conditions. 

The objective of the qualification is to benefit learners by preparing them to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations and take on the role of first aiders in an early years setting. 

Structure 

This qualification contains two mandatory units with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 15 hours. This will consist of 12 hours of guided learning and 3 hours of Preparation learning, e.g., pre-course reading, research, mentored practice/work experience, and workplace induction.

QA LEVEL 2 AWARD IN BASIC LIFE SUPPORT AND MANAGEMENT OF ANAPHYLAXIS (RQF)

This qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: 

• Resuscitation Council (UK) 

• A distinguished panel of experts in emergency medical care 

The Anaphylaxis Campaign has approved the content of this qualification. 

This Qualsafe Awards (QA) qualification is: 

• For people who want to know how to provide basic life support (BLS) and manage anaphylaxis 

• Based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard for delivery of First Aid at Work (FAW) courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 

This qualification should enable Learners to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first-aid situations, including managing a casualty with anaphylaxis. 

The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by preparing them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and manage anaphylaxis. 

Structure 

This qualification contains one mandatory unit with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 5 hours. This will consist of 4 hours of guided learning and 1 hour of Preparation learning, e.g., pre-course reading, research, mentored practice/work experience, and workplace induction.

Structure
